Thursday Night Football

LA Chargers @ Las Vegas Raiders

Pick: Under 34.5 / Wager: 4%

Pick: Austin Eckeler over 29.5 Yards Receiving / Wager: 2%

Pick: Cameron Dicker over 1.5 FGs / Wager: 3%

For tonight's Thursday Night Football showdown, we're confidently going with the under 34.5. This pick isn't just a hunch; it's backed by solid stats that align perfectly with the BrownBagBets approach. Let's break it down: both the Chargers and Raiders have a combined record of 20-6 for unders this season. Specifically, the Chargers have hit unders in 5 of their last 6 road games, while the Raiders have gone under in 6 of their last 7 at home. But there's more to this story. The Raiders' offense has been struggling, failing to score over 17 points in their last four outings. On the Chargers' side, they're starting Easton Stick, a 2018 North Dakota State graduate, indicating a potential shift in their offensive dynamics. Plus, the Chargers themselves haven't scored more than 10 points in their last three games. All these factors point towards a game where points will be at a premium, making the under 34.5 a smart, calculated move for us tonight.

This Easton Stick guy we just referenced, is an unknown for sure. He doesn’t have Keenan Allen, so we see him relying on Austin Eckeler quite a bit, just like he did for the little bit of time he had when coming in to replace Herbert last week. The number we got is one that has rose a bit, but we see value still even at this number.

A game with a low total, and QBs that will likely struggle, we are starting to then turn to the kickers to see what value might exist with them. Dicker has a strong leg and can hit from far. He has gone over this number in every other game of the year - and last week he didn’t make any.

NCAAM Plays

Citadel @ Charleston

Pick: Charleston -11.5 / Wager: 2%

We have multiple projections showing this game finishing at a margin of 15-20 points. We buy it down a bit just to be safe here as we do have a trusted expert who is suggesting Citadel +13.

Jacksonville State @ Wisconsin

Pick: Wisconsin -19.5 / Wager: 2%

East Carolina @ Florida

Pick: East Carolina +15 / Wager: 2%

East Carolina has played some strong games against solid competition. Tonight they get back a key player in LSU transfer, Cam Hayes. We think the Pirates have enough to manage Florida’s size and keep this one close.

Grambling State @ Drake

Pick: Drake -22.5 / Wager: 2%

Love the KenPom review on this one. Massive delta between these two teams in terms of the rankings from website. The line has been on the move since it opened, and its movement is in the direction that we like to see.

St. Thomas @ Marquette

Pick: St. Thomas +24 / Wager: 2%

Believe it or not - we actually follow the St Thomas Bonnies of Minnesota quite a bit. They are a dangerous team that is very scrappy. As underdogs they are 4-0 vs the spread. St. Thomas plays at a very methodical and slow pace - so a 24 point line is inevitably even harder to accomplish for Marquette in our opinion.

NBA Plays

Cavaliers @ Celtics

Pick: Celtics -7.5 / Wager: 3%

Pick: Derrick White over 19.5 points + assists / Wager: 4%

We continue to see value in NBA props day in and day out. Tonight’s Derrick White line for points plus assists is set where he’s hit this amount in 6 straight games. We liked this at -8 for the Celtics, but when we went in to place our wager the line was already at 9.5 - which of course is a great sign. So we scale back the wager and make a buy down play to 7.5. We’ve got many projections on this game showing the Celtics winning by double digits.

Bulls @ Heat

Pick: Coby White over 30.5 Points + Rebs + Assts / Wager: 4%

This guy is just crushing the stat lines right now. We love to play him for this stat combo, even if it is a -170 play.

Nets @ Nuggets

Pick: Nuggets -9.5 / Wager: 2%

Pick: Nikola Jokic over 22.5 Rebs + Assts / Wager: 4%

The Nets are on the second night of a back to back, which we at BrownBagBets love to play when we see it. The Nets struggle to hold the stat lines down on centers as well.

Jazz @ Blazers

Pick: Blazers -2.5 / Wager: 3%

We’ve seen a solid trend in terms of returns on lines for the Jazz. We fade them on the road and we bet on them at home. The Jazz are the worst Against the Spread (ATS) team in the NBA this season.

Timberwolves @ Mavericks

Pick: Luca Doncic over 33.5 points / Wager: 3%

Pick: Luca Doncic over 9.5 Assists / Wager: 3%

Luca has hit these numbers 4 out of 6 and 4 out of 5 respectively.

Thunder @ Kings

Pick: Chet Holmgren over 1.5 Blocks / Wager: 2%

He has hit this number in 8 of the last 9 games. This line came in just under our max line rule of thumb at -194. We go 2% here because it’s not worth the risk of not hitting it to make a couple more dollars with a 3 or 4% wager.

NHL Plays

Parlay Play

Hurricanes @ Red Wings

Lightning @ Oilers

Pick: Hurricanes ML/Oilers ML @ + 162 / Wager: 2%

Blackhawks @ Kraken

Pick: Under 5.5 @ +100/ Wager: 2%
